Caching is one of those great things that every site should be doing but not a lot do. It’s usually bundled up with your hosting provider but if you’re on a host that costs less then 10 bucks a month, you’re probably missing out.
No worries though! There are plenty of amazing plugins that can help you out. One of those amazing plugins is WP-Rocket. We use it on all the sites that we host and couldn’t be happier with it’s performance. In plain english, it makes the sites load super fast!
WP-Rocket recently wrote a great post that explains in detail what caching is, how it works, the benefits, etc. It’s super easy to read and will explain everything.

Yeah, I said it! Perfection is for suckers!
The problem is, so many of us need things to be perfect. You may think you don’t, but if a site is taking you forever and a day to launch because this or that isn’t right, then you’re a sucker!
I’m not trying to be mean; I just want to get this through to anyone who is going through the never ending project struggle. The projects that need this logo moved over 2 pixels to the left, and this text needs to be a little bigger, and let me get ten people to look at this before I get back to you. And WE’VE ALL BEEN THROUGH THIS! If you’re not currently a sucker, I bet you were.
I definitely was! There was always this constant need of “The client just needs to be happy.” or “The client needs to approve this, I mean it’s their site.” Looking back and learning from everything I’ve done, I realized, this is a horrible way to manage clients!
First, let’s look at perfection in it’s most basic form. It’s ENTIRELY SUBJECTIVE! What’s perfect for you isn’t’ perfect for someone else, and what’s perfect for them isn’t perfect for their partner and so on and so on.
You end up in this never ending cycle of people who want things to be perfect the only way they see it, and much like art, no one knows what they’re talking about.
I was just listening to the new Gary V Book, “Ask Gary Vee” and it’s excellent so far. He said something like “I hate perfection. Just move on. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder my friend,” and man, I could not agree more!
When you take on a project, yes, the client is paying, but much like I pay a mechanic to fix my car, I’m not going to start telling him how to put together my transmission. I don’t know why web designers take so much crap from clients.
Who’s the professional web guru here? You run your business, and let me run mine. My job is to help you, not to do whatever you want. Why? Because you don’t know anything about the web!
Simple as that!

I’m getting big into strategizing and testing and seeing what works and what doesn’t.
It’s really the strategizing part that gets me. The thought process, figuring out, drilling down, it’s just so amazing how all these things come together.
I was just talking to a friend because I needed a lead magnet for my new site, and I was stuck.
What the hell would make someone opt-in?
Well, I guess I’ll just have to test and see what works best, but the conversation we had helped me nail down what to try and offer first.
One thing that many people love is lists. Lists of the tools you use is always an attractive opt-in strategy so that’s what I’ll be going with.
If you’re looking for something to put together, try this method:
- What kind of a lead magnet would YOU want?
- Who do you want to attract?
- Now Brainstorm some words/phrase that would appeal to your audience.
- Continue to analyze your perfect target user while you brainstorm.
- What problem are you solving?
The best thing is to actually do that with someone who is somewhat familiar with what you do. They’ll be able to help you analyze and answer the questions to really nail down who you’re trying to talk to, and what your lead magnet is going to be.
I did this with Kim Doyal. Within 15 minutes we nailed down some taglines, who the target is and what to offer. It was unbelievable!
Once you have what you want to offer as a lead magnet, head over to canva.com (if you’re not a designer, hell even if you are a designer, this will just make it easier.)
I used a template that they had premade and just edited it to suit what I wanted. Took me a total of about 30 min and cost me a buck.
Once you have that ready, you’re about 80% done! I like to make my graphics 2 pages, so I have a cover and then the content. With the cover, I use something like PSD Covers or Cover Action Pro to give it that 3-D look. (Kim actually helped me with that one).
The last step would be to set up your conversion software to promote the lead magnet! I user ConvertFlow and Drip because I don’t think there’s anything better, but that’s just me.
Now you should have your lead magnet ready to roll.
